Kirsten Lord
Chartered Physiotherapist & Centre Founder
Kirsten completed her physiotherapy degree in Adelaide, Australia in 1989. She moved to Edinburgh in 1991 and in 1992 founded The Edinburgh Physiotherapy Centre. Through extensive postgraduate training she has gained standards of excellence in treatment of sporting injuries, spinal pain and chronic pain. Her previous studies in music also help her understand and treat many professional musicians resident and touring in Scotland. Her versatility and experience has also allowed her to treat a wide range of sporting professionals, actors and other performers.
For the past few years she has devoted substantial time to scientific golf research. As consultant lecturer for the PGA, she has appeared on the Golf Channel, and is recognised by The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy as the UK golf physiotherapy expert. Her work in this field is devoted to both reduction of injury and performance enhancement. Kirsten has launched the Swingbuster Golf Assessment, specifically for golfers, which is now available at the clinic.
Kirsten is now working to manage and develop the rapidly expanding Centre whilst maintaining the highest professional standards. She hand- picks only the best clinicians to work with her.

Denis McGinley
Chartered Physiotherapist
Denis qualified with an honours degree in physiotherapy from Glasgow in 1999. After spending his initial 2 years in an NHS setting, he has worked in a variety of clinics throughout the UK and Germany. During this time he has been involved with treating elite/international athletes from the field of athletics, rugby and football.
He originally became interested in physiotherapy through his participation in international athletics as a competitor, and his general participation in sport, and believes that competitors at all levels benefit from both the preventative care and sound rehabilitation principles that he applies.
As well as working within The Edinburgh Physiotherapy Centre, he is also lead physiotherapist at the School of Professional Dance in Edinburgh.

Nicholas Evans
Chartered Physiotherapist
Nicholas completed his physiotherapy degree
at the University of Sydney, Australia in 1994. Initially he
worked in private practices in Australia before moving to the
UK in 1996 and Edinburgh in 2003.
He has a particular interest in spinal pain and has worked as
a specialist low back pain Physiotherapist for several years.
Having completed his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy
at Quinnipiac University, (Connecticut USA) in 2006, his research
involved the study of Pilates versus other forms of spinal stabilization
exercises.
Nicholas is a keen swimmer and cyclist and enjoys the challenge
of treating difficult pain.

Laura Garland
Swedish Massage, Reiki Therapy & Aromatherapy
Laura has been a massage therapist since 2001 when she completed her Swedish massage Diploma followed by her Reiki Masters in 2002. She further studied and worked in the beauty industry completing her Aromatherapy Diploma in January 2004 and Hot Stones Massage in 2005. Laura has worked extensively with physiotherapists, from whom she has learned many further skills to enhance her deep tissue massages. She is particularly familiar working with people who experience pain and discomfort.

Colin Gordon
Deep Tissue Massage
After spending 10 years in the water industry working as a chemist Colin retrained as a Deep tissue massage therapist before commencing work in 2003, after graduating with a diploma in advanced remedial massage.
Colin has worked with a number of high level athletes, including a member of the 2006 Scottish Commonwealth Games team. He has also worked at the 2004 British and 2005 World drug-free powerlifting championships as well as the 2004 and 2005 British Police Federation squash championships.

Ray Head
Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Swedish Massage
After receiving diplomas in Sports Massage, Swedish Massage and Advanced Personal Training in 2004, Ray qualified with a specialist diploma in resisted movement exercise in 2005. He has worked with top class rugby and football teams, fitness instructors, climbers and office workers and his work with Leicester Tigers Rugby team has consolidated his skills in deep tissue massage.
As a resisted movement exercise coach, Ray adds a new dimension to his massages. His advice on corrective exercises and flexibility training will not only improve your symptoms they help to prevent recurrence.

Sara Knight
Massage Therapist
Sara graduated with an honours degree in Biological Sciences in 1994 and completed a post-graduate teaching diploma in 1995. After working as a Science and Biology teacher for 9 years, she then graduated with a 2 year diploma in therapeutic massage in 2006.
Sara has worked with physiotherapy clinics for the past year and joined
The Edinburgh Physio Centre in Feb 2007. She has treated clients with injuries
ranging from sports and spinal problems, to ballet dancers and cancer sufferers.
She has also broad scope within the sports arena and massage at events
such as the Squash World Masters Championships.

Maeve Grant
Chartered Physiotherapist
Maeve qualified with an honours degree in physiotherapy from Aberdeen
in 2000. Since that time, she has focused on sports and spinal injuries
attending numerous postgraduate training courses to expand her skills.
Working with sports in New Zealand exposed her to new techniques
from which she consolidated her unique treatment style.
Maeve uses a manual approach to therapy which includes both Maitland
and muscle balance assessments, especially effective in the treatment
of more difficult and resistant problems.

Nikki Watt
Chartered Physiotherapist
Qualifying in 1995, Nikki is a specialist in manual therapy for acute and long term spinal pain, sports injuries and chronic pain. Through working in a variety of settings she has gained extensive clinical and educational experience, and obtained her prestigious accreditation with Society of Orthopaedic Medicine in 2002.
Skilled in acupuncture for pain relief, Nikki uses a Muscle Balance approach combined with Maitland therapy, effective for not only reducing recurrences of injury but improving performance in sport.

Polly Parker
Chartered Physiotherapist
After running a large physiotherapy outpatient teaching department in London, Polly moved to Edinburgh in 2001, where she ran her own Sports and Spinal Private Practice for 4 years.
Polly is specialist in treating occupational, spinal and sports injuries. Having worked with several high ranking young tennis players, she employs Australian muscle balance techniques to screen for sports performance enhancement and prevention of injury. Coming from a 'sporty' family, she uses these specialist techniques to encompasses a wide variety of sports.
More recently, through her own experience of pregnancy and early parenthood, Polly has also specialised in the antenatal and postnatal needs of women, with treatments not routinely covered in the NHS.
Currently Polly can be found working in-house for Scottish Widows where the diversity of client's problems draws on many aspects of her experience.
