According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy - known as qi - moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of meridians (channels) beneath the skin. The flow of qi can be disturbed by many factors, physical, mental and emotional: anxiety, stress, anger, fear or grief, poor nutrition, weather conditions, hereditary factors, infections, poisons and trauma. By inserting fine needles into the channels, an acupuncturist can stimulate the body's own healing response and help to restore its natural balance.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is effective at treating a wide range of physiological and psychological imbalances, illnesses and disharmonies. It is well known as a means of pain relief, very successful in the treatment of backache, joint problems, tennis elbow, migraines, and menstrual pain. Innately balancing, acupuncture is effective at increasing energy levels, regulating hormonal function, and combating psychological disharmonies such as stress, addiction and depression. Traditional acupuncture considers all illnesses in terms of imbalances of energy. Therefore, acupuncture benefits almost any condition, and can be used as a preventative measure to maintain health and internal harmony.
Everyone is different and so are your needs. Depending on your assessment, you may need just 2 or 3 sessions and for more long standing and complex problems you may need several treatments. Once you are pain-free, you should come for check-ups every 6 months/yearly to pick up problems early and make sure they stay away, just like you do with your dentist.
Your initial 45 minute Physiotherapy Assessment costs £49, and then regular 30 minute sessions cost £40.
