...tackling pain and improving your sporting performance

Do you suffer from sporting injuries without really knowing the cause? A lot of sports activities can create common problems, and in many cases you do not know the reason why. Causes can be varied, and hard to spot with conventional observation...for example:

  • Your foot position on landing. For example, do you roll your foot inward when you land? Is this a problem with your foot control or muscle control in your pelvis? This can lead to recurring knee and back pain.
  • Abnormal angles of your body at key points in your sport. Is this a problem with your Muscle Balance or stiffness in specific muscles? This can lead to injury, pain and poor sporting performance.

What is Video & Motion Analysis?

Using a sophisticated on-screen video system, we analyse the way that you move, and compare your motion with footage of experts in the field. We freeze frame particular moments and show you slow motion replays highlighting problem areas with on-screen drawing and joint angles. We then pinpoint any problems or faults in your performance, and give you advice on further treatment that is required to solve your problem:

Video & Motion Analysis can be done either in our central clinic, or at your place of sport. We help you to understand where your problems lie and give you effective solutions. You even get to take your own CD/DVD home to watch.

This assessment is of particular help with sports involving Running, Martial Arts, Swimming & Golf.

How much will this cost?

Video assessment at our central usually takes 30 minutes and costs £38 a session.

We can also bring our video system to your club, or sport location. Just call 0131 556 1116 to speak with Nicholas Evans, Chartered Physiotherapist for more information about location bookings.

Depending on what is found during your assessment, you may need:

  • Supportive devices in your shoes
  • Simple advice on the kind of sporting shoe you should wear...or...
  • Treatment with hands on therapy to improve your leg alignment and muscle control

You may therefore need just one, or several treatments more for long-standing and complex problems depending on your diagnosis. If your problems require hands on Physiotherapy treatment and once you are pain-free, you should come for check-ups every 6 months/yearly to pick up problems early and make sure they stay away, just like you do with your dentist.
